The linear movement of materials from the natural world through processing, retailing and use to landfill is no longer an option in our resource constrained world. Nor are the impacts on people.

An understanding of supply chain hotspots will provide an evidence base of the material inputs and the environmental and ethical impacts of their use throughout the product lifecycle.

This knowledge can be used to identify where materials could be substituted for more sustainable materials - either through sourcing more responsibly or finding more sustainable alternative materials.
