Newleaf works with our clients to build natural intelligence by gathering, verifying and reporting environmental and ethical data on products, suppliers and supply chains.
The success of our third party verified data has enabled our clients to:
- report their performance externally via voluntary mechanisms including the Global Reporting Initiative and the Global Forest Trade Network
- use the data internally to support marketing, sales and procurement teams
- publish data in CSR reports
- change procurement policy and implement sustainable procurement practices, and
- improve the sustainability performance of suppliers
How do our clients rate our work?
"With tens of thousands of products - many with environmental claims, made of wood, or containing chemicals - Office Depot's challenge is to ensure that the products we offer our customers have been responsibly sourced and that there is credible evidence to back up any claim we make. Our policy of Buy green, Be green, Sell green, Tell green starts with knowing our products. That's where NewLeaf Sustainability Practice enter our challenge.
We needed a business that could verify environmental claims, wood-fibre sources and supplier CSR data for Office Depot products in the UK so that we can have confidence in passing the true benefits to our customers. NewLeaf provide a wealth of product and supply chain knowledge that allows them to link pieces of the jigsaw together, they ask the right questions of our supply chain ensuring that the management intelligence received supports many of our business decisions.
As the majority of the products sold in the UK are selected by our UK and European Merchandising and Procurement teams there is a need to have a real-time system that reports all of our product credentials that is available to all our suppliers, buyers, merchandisers and sales staff across the EU. This has been achieved through NewLeaf's real time and bespoke on-line supply chain database.
The database allows our Merchandising and Procurement teams to make informed decisions, to have continual dialogue with the suppliers about the environmental credentials of their products and to performance manage their supply chains against sustainability criteria, as well as cost. Working with Newleaf allows us to develop initiatives to work closely with the our suppliers and bring innovation in to the supply chain. Our partnership approach with Newleaf allows for knowledge transfer and capability building in the areas that need support. This approach has been instrumental to the success of our environmental claims and compliance programmes."
